Day 1:

Arrival in Paro - onto Thimphu -

  • Arrival transfer from airport in Paro to hotel in Thimphu, en route visit Simtokha Dzong (Private).
  • Welcome to your 'Luxury Escapes of Bhutan' tour! On arrival at the airport in Paro, you will be met and transferred to your hotel in Thimphu. We stop to visit Simtokha Dzong which is the oldest Dzong in Bhutan, an important historical monument and former Buddhist monastery. The site is said to guard a demon that had vanished into the rock nearby.
  • Later proceed to the hotel and check in.
  • Dinner & Overnight at the hotel

Day 2:

Thimphu - Punakha Excursion -

  • Today morning, drive to the valleys of Punakha, we stop to visit the Dochu La Pass. A beautiful mountain pass which is a concentration of 108 memorial stupas known as 'Druk Wangyal Chortens' and on a clear day offers magnificent view of the snow laden Himalayas.
  • Continue to one of the most picturesque fortress, Punakha Dzong which is majestically located at the confluence of the Pho Chhu (father) and Mo Chhu (mother) rivers. It is the second oldest and second largest dzong in Bhutan. All of Bhutan's kings have been crowned here.
  • Post sightseeing return to the hotel.
  • Overnight & Dinner at the hotel

Note: The Punakha Dzong is closed in winter months when the monk's body is in Punakha. All visits to Dzong and Monasteries are limited till the courtyard only.

Day 3:

Thimphu to Paro -

  • After breakfast, drive towards Paro, en route proceed on a city tour of Thimpu.
  • Visit the National Memorial Chorten, a large Tibetan-style memorial built to honour the third King, Jigme Dorji Wangchuck. This whitewashed chorten, with its golden spires, features elaborate mandalas, statues and a shrine dedicated to the king.
  • Continue to the Buddha Dordenma statue, a gigantic golden Buddha statue measuring 51.5 m in height, sitting atop a gilded meditation hall and is one of the largest in the world.
  • Lastly, visit the Folk Heritage Museum which is one of the oldest traditional houses, more than 150 years old. The museum provides a glimpse of the Bhutanese lifestyle and artefacts from the rural households.
  • Later, proceed your drive towards Paro.
  • Dinner & Ovrenight at the hotel.

Day 4:

Paro Sightseeing -

  • After breakfast, embark on a city tour of Paro.
  • Visit Kyichu Lhakhang which was built sometimes in mid-7th century by the Tibetan king Songtsen Gampo. It is believed to be one of the 108 temples built to subdue a demoness residing in the Himalayas. It is one of the oldest and beautiful temples in Bhutan.
  • Then, visit Drukgyal Dzong, one of the four principal Dra Dzongs (defense fortress).The Dzong is now in ruins and only the ruins of giant walls, charred gigantic wooden posts, beams and watch towers can be seen of what was once an important fortress that repelled several invasions from the north.
  • End the tour by visiting National Museum, a cultural museum, housed in the Ta Dzong (watchtower). The museum has an intriguing collection of artefacts providing a wonderful introduction to the rich culture and heritage of the Bhutan.
  • Return back to the hotel in the evening.
  • Dinner & Overnight at the hotel.

Day 5:

Paro - Excursion to Tiger's Nest Monastery -

  • After breakfast, drive till the base of Taktsang Lhakhang also known as the Tiger's Nest is the most famous Buddhist pilgrimage site and temple complex in Bhutan. Visible from afar, this stunning and highly revered monastery is perched on a high granite cliff at an altitude of 10,236 ft., overlooking the northern Paro valley.
  • Later, return to the hotel.
  • Dinner & Overnight at the hotel

Day 6:

Departure for your Homecity -

  • Today, bid farewell to your 'Luxury Escapes of Bhutan' tour, as you are transferred to the airport in Paro for your onward journey.
