Do’s

1. Drink plenty of water and try to eat normal. (Carry bottled water as there are very rare shops in Ladakh).

2. Carry extra thermals and windproof jackets. (Not too heavy)

3. Pack some shoes that are warm and with good grip.

4. Carry your toiletries from your home. Don’t rely on hotels.

5. Carry a garbage bag so that you don’t litter the area.

7. Carry some sunscreen and moisturizer as the weather condition is quite harsh at this area.

8. Always carry extra fuel cans of minimum 5 litres.

9. It is quite normal to have AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness) at this region so it’s better to start Diamox tablets 3-4 days prior to your journey.

10. Having a handy first aid kit will always be a good idea. Specially bandages, balm, antiseptics and some sweet candies to keep your mouth moist and avoid AMS.

11. Keep a torch with some extra batteries always with you.

12. If you are a photographer, carry some spare batteries and chargers for your camera and a stable tripod.

13. Some extra cash as ATMs is quite hard to find in Ladakh.

14. 6-7 copies of all your licenses, permits and other documents with originals.

15. Take (ILP) inner line permit of places like Nubra Valley, Pangong Lake, Turtuk, Dha-Hanu, Tsomoriri, and Zanskar etc.

16. Carry bike tool kit to repair punctures and other issues in your bike at high hills. You can hire a mechanic too on daily wages for extra security.

17. If in case, your bike tyre gets stuck in the sand then without instead of giving much throttle, pour some water on that part of the sand and then give throttle.

18. Always carry some bungee cords or strings to tie your luggage on the bike.

19. Carry a swiss knife for extra protection.
